This article talks about how Cuba wants to have Guantanamo Bay back from the US. In exchange to improving relations with them. Raul Castro has stated that the occupation of Guantanamo was illegal and should be returned at this moment. Castro also requested that Cuba be removed from the terror list and to lift the embargo trade the US has put on them since the Cold War era. If the United States were to talk with Cuba, this would be the first time in over 40 years that the relationship of the two will improve.
In my opinion, I believe Cuba is wrong for doing this. They want our help and yet they're wanting to kick us out. How is that even fair. I believe we should stay in Guantanamo and continue to lock prisoners in there because moving them would a a huge hassle to do and Cuba doesn't deserve it. I hope the United States do not go through with this deal, even if it means that the relationship between them and the US don't improve.
This article is important to Cuba because it's about land. Guantanamo Bay was part of Cuba and now Castro wants to reclaim the bay back from the United States. Talking about land in any country wold most likely be political. The Cubans themselves believe that Guantanamo is their territory because of the leaders' propaganda, and so this whole ordeal is widely known through both sides.
